Registered Music Therapist
Erica Santiago, MM, RMT, NICU-MT
Erica is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). The AMTA is a member of Allied Health Professionals Australia (AHPA) and the National Association of Self-Regulating Health Professions (NASRHP). She is also a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) in the United States and is a Licensed Music Therapist in the state of Virginia. Erica has specialised training to provide therapeutic interventions within the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting and has obtained the additional credentials of NICU-MT. She holds a Master of Music in Music Therapy from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Music from Florida Southern College .
Erica brings experience working in complex medical environments, including intensive care, oncology, rehabilitation, behavioural health, and neonatal intensive care (NICU). She has spent the past 10 years supporting both paediatric and adult hospice clients, as well as in-patient behavioural health clients.
Alongside her clinical experience, Erica brings a deep understanding of grief, loss, and trauma, and supports clients in navigating these experiences with care, sensitivity, and respect. Her work focuses on helping individuals find ways to express, process, and connect through music in meaningful and supportive ways.
Erica believes music therapy can benefit people across all stages of life, and aims to support each person to engage more fully and authentically in their own life and wellbeing.
Outside of her work, Erica enjoys spending time outdoors with her two children, reading, and baking.
